Facts to Know About the COVID-19 Vaccine

facts to know about the covid-19 vaccine

Some 18 months into the COVID-19 pandemic, the world is finally seeing the light at the end of it all in the form of the different vaccines being manufactured. But despite the numerous benefits the COVID vaccine brings, many are still wary about getting vaccinated themselves.

To help you make a more informed decision, InLife is bringing you the latest facts about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Is the vaccine safe?

This is perhaps the most pressing question on most people’s minds. Yes. The COVID vaccines, no matter the manufacturer (e.g., Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, etc.) are safe. Despite the false news that you may have read online, the COVID-19 vaccine was not rushed. It has undergone rigorous testing and trials to ensure every individual’s safety.

Is the COVID vaccine safe long-term?

According to Dr. Anne Liu, an infectious disease physician at the Stanford Health Center in California, people have no reason to worry about any potential long-term side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. In general, vaccines do not stay in the body long enough to create any long-term damage. Rather, vaccines enter the body and rather quickly trigger a response in the immune system. Any side effects that you may experience will disappear in a few weeks.

Not everybody can take the COVID-19 vaccine, however. Here is the list of people who are not permitted from being vaccinated:

People allergic to the ingredients of the COVID-19 vaccine

People who are pregnant or breastfeeding

People who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 in the last three months

People with underlying medical conditions

Children and adolescents

If you do not belong to any group in the list, we urge you to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to you. While some may want to wait out for a certain vaccine manufacturer, at the end of the day, some protection is better than no protection.

Which vaccine is the best?

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot actually pit or compare one COVID-19 vaccine kind against another. The best vaccine is still the one that is in your arm.

Protecting yourself at all times

With the limited number of vaccines that are currently available in the country at the moment, you want to ensure you and your loved ones are protected while you wait for your turn to be inoculated. Make sure you cover all your bases by getting a health insurance plan that can protect you, both medically and financially, should the worst happen before then.
