Filipinas have increasingly occupied various important roles in society. They care for the home while being primary decision-makers, drivers of economic growth, and partners in nation-building, and yet, they are faced with the enormous challenge of money management.

These, and more, were tackled during the one-day forum for women called “Shaping Her Future: The Sheroes’ Runway to Financial Freedom.” The forum, jointly organized by the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE), Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN), and Insular Life (InLife), taught its participants how to plan, manage and improve their finances.

“We want our own women to be empowered by taking charge of their economic well-being so they can attain their financial goals whatever life phase they are in,” said Noemi G. Azura, Executive Vice President and Program Director, InLife Sheroes Program of InLife. “Our work in PBCWE has shown us that most women are the financial decision-makers, which is why it is
imperative that we equip them with the knowledge and tools to be economically empowered,” added PhilWEN Chair and PBCWE Co-Chairperson Boots Garcia.

The forum, held at the Quest Hotel and Conference Center in Clark Freeport Zone, introduced the five kinds of women who are most in need of financial security. These women represent the Filipinas who would benefit the most from being adept at proper management of their finances. Participants were also taught the basic concepts of saving, benefits of careful budgeting, how to produce additional income streams, manage debt, invest prudently their hard-earned money, and protect their income.

“Shaping Her Future: The Sheroes’ Runway to Financial Freedom,” is part of the InLife Sheroes Movement, a program that aims to empower at least one million Filipinas and expand their access to risk-mitigating solutions and investment opportunities by educating them on financial management, health and well-being, providing network access to business partners, and solutions to women-specific concerns.

Aside from conducting personal finance forums, InLife Sheroes also recently launched two new products: InLife She Cares, a customizable women-specific product that combines life insurance, investment, and health insurance into one plan, and Inlife Health Care Entrepinay, a prepaid product for women entrepreneurs that enables them to provide group health coverage and life insurance benefits to their employees.
