InLife celebrates 114 years of Heritage, opens gallery and merch shop
InLife’s Member of the Board Luis Y. Benitez, Executive Chairperson Nina D. Aguas, and President and CEO Raoul Antonio E. Littaua open the doors of InLife Merch Shop and InLife Treasures with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
In celebration of its 114th anniversary, Insular Life (InLife) opened two new venues at its Alabang head office – a gallery showcasing the company’s milestones and works of renowned artists, and a merchandise shop.
The gallery, called “InLife Treasures,” honors the company’s rich history and legacy. It displays InLife’s oldest life insurance policy dating 1910; the first mechanical calculator called the Millionaire which was used by actuaries from 1912 to 1927; and other memorabilia that signifies the company’s historical record of more than a century.
InLife President and CEO Raoul Antonio Littaua said the company takes pride in its 114 years of uninterrupted service to Filipinos, as well as in its collection of timeless artworks showing InLife’s identity as a proud Filipino company.
“Our art collection clearly conveys that we are proudly Filipino. This is the central unifying theme in our collection, as superbly depicted in Napoleon Abueva’s bas relief sculpture of unique Filipino traditions, the ‘Simbang Gabi’ painting of Fernando Amorsolo, and the ‘Bayanihan’ painting of Bing Siochi, among others,” Littaua said.
“InLife Treasures is also an expression of the human side of our company. While businesses are profit-oriented, our passion for the arts shows InLife as a human enterprise. After all, if there is one attribute that makes us human, it is our ability to create and appreciate art,” he added.
InLife Treasures shows the timeless works of the country’s National Artists. Aside from Abueva’s original bas relief depicting Philippine industry and culture, InLife Treasures displays Amorsolo’s “Simbang Gabi” and “The Making of the Philippine Flag;” and Jose Joya’s “Man and Woman," "Woman," and “Mother and Child." It also presents Carlos “Botong” Francisco’s “Harana” and “Family (Blue);” Cesar Legaspi’s “Makibaka;” and Ang Kiukok’s “Still Life,” and “Trees.”
The hallway is decorated with the works of Mauro “Malang” Santos and Soler. The other featured works are “Huling Katutubo” (Jonah Salvosa), “Mooring the Boat” (Pi Pakol), “Halaman sa Bintana” (John Cristobal), "Mangingisda,” and “Bayanihan” (Bing Siochi). These paintings reflect the Filipino talent and way of life.
The Merch Shop, meanwhile, showcases InLife-branded apparel and goods including jackets and shirts, luggage and bags, calendars and pens. Policyholders, financial advisors, and visitors may buy InLife merchandise from the shop and also avail themselves of limited-edition items.
With the InLife Treasures and Merch Shop, the employees, agency force, and customers can feel a deeper sense of pride to be a part of InLife’s 114 years of commitment to help Filipinos lead A Lifetime for Good.
