Upgrading Your Health Security During COVID-19

As the age-old saying goes, prevention is better than cure. With the ongoing pandemic happening around us, this could not be any more literal. It is understandable that you’re feeling anxious not only for your safety but for the safety of your loved ones as well. To spare yourselves from spending an incredible amount of money on treatments, it’s best to boost your health and safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The best way is to follow these health measures for COVID-19 from the World Health Organization.

Proper Hand Washing

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after leaving your home, touching objects such as doorknobs or public pens, or blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, sanitize your hands with rubbing alcohol with at least 60% isopropyl solution.

Avoid Touching Your Face

Your hands have a lot more germs than you realize. As much as possible, resist the urge to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with your unwashed hands.

Minimize Your Exposure

Avoid going out as much as you can. If you can help it, stay at home as much as possible. If your work permits it, work from home and only head out for necessities such as groceries and medicine

Wear a Face Mask

If you must head out, make sure to protect yourself by keeping your mouth and nose covered with a face mask. This is also to protect those around you. You can wear a surgical mask or a simple reusable cloth face mask.

Practice Social Distancing

One of the easiest and most effective ways to avoid contracting the virus is by practicing social distancing. Whenever you leave your house, particularly if the place is crowded, ensure that there is at least 6 feet of space between you and the next person. Studies have found that droplets of saliva from when you talk, cough, or sneeze (which can contain the virus) can travel this distance, so it’s wise to leave as much space between people as you can.

Clean Surfaces

Disinfect frequently touched surfaces as often as you can. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, computers, phones, keyboards, sinks, faucets, countertops, and even communal pens.

Cover Your Nose

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and throw the tissue away immediately after use. If you don’t have tissue with you, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve, and not into your hands, instead.

Get a Health Insurance Plan

Give yourself and your loved ones peace of mind during these uncertain times by investing in a health insurance plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. A good health insurance plan can cover your medical expenses should you, unfortunately, catch the virus and can even provide you with a daily allowance to replace your lost income. Should the worst happen, and you lose the battle against COVID-19, a health insurance plan can also assure that your family will be taken care of even after your demise.
